Alberta fly fishing guide services for the Southern Alberta region can be sourced through Stream weaver Flies. Fly fishing's AAA Alberta guide service, Stream Weaver Flies, is one of the premiere Canadian sources for Alberta's Bow River and beyond. Our fly fishing excursions are centered out of Calgary and focus on Alberta's Bow River; known for it's large energetic Rainbow & Brown trout. Should anglers wish, we can expand their trip to include the Red Deer River, Crowsnest River, Upper Old Man River or Ram River system. Our guides are professional, courteous and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects relating to our fly fishing services. We hope you will enjoy perusing the information and programs we offer to our clientele throughout this website. Our company name is Stream Weaver Flies and our company is the provider or host of this site. The definition of Host in the dictionary is worded as “A person who receives or entertains another as a guest” and this web site is intended to do just that. When a guide takes clients out fly-fishing, they are really hosting customers through entertaining them by a means of providing guidance and direction. After the guests’ trip is over, they should have caught some nice fish, had a nice meal, enjoyed some companionship and learned some new skills to improve their fishing technique. This is the essence of guiding and our companies main objective is to pass these tangible experiences on to our customers through this web site and our company service.
It is our hope that this traditional laid back family oriented approach will provide an extraordinary service that will surpass anything that is currently being offered in the industry. There will be no contracting out to other guide services-we will accompany all our clients ourselves. We will however book up quickly because of this very personal service so if this type of program suits you please contact us directly upon perusal of our website. We can only take on so many clients due to the size of our company and the personal hands-on approach we have decided to provide. Our company is always anxious to continue to expand our special clientele, which is developed through mutual satisfaction and trust over a long and worthwhile association. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to catering to your needs and over the years establishing a long-term mutually enjoyable relationship.
Time For Something Different We would never try to suggest our fisheries up here in Alberta are any better than any other location around the world. Coming from a military background, Pat and Bob have traveled extensively over the years as part of their jobs. This has provided the opportunity for both of us to fish many fantastic fisheries in many different areas. Therefore, we recognize there are many superb fisheries all over the world that provide a wonderful opportunity to hunt for trout. They are all very diverse and offer a variety of challenges and special significance to many anglers. It is not our place to infringe on your own personal feelings that you have about the places you find special.
What To Expect
The next day we could even, whisk you off to an intimate match the hatch walk and wade trip to our most prolific small stream the Crowsnest River. When most anglers fish this river they swear they are somewhere in Montana due to the magnificent scenery. Yet, many visiting anglers comment on how they find it hard to believe that the Crowsnest River can have such magnificent match the hatch type fishing. Even harder to believe is that there are significant numbers of good-sized trout in truly magnificent surroundings, yet the stream is usually un-crowded during midweek. There
is the outside chance to catch brown
trout up to 30” on the surface with dry flies
and rainbows up to 24” in a variety of techniques.
If the planets all align perfectly
and conditions present themselves, there is the possibility of catching
a 20” plus cutthroat on the dry fly. Conversely,
the angler may possibly catch, gently handle and release a real monster
brown of 30” or a bull trout over 30” on streamers. However
the angler will generally experience trout fishing where the size will
range from 16”-20” with the very real expectation of a 22”-24”
trout on a good day. Home
