Dealing specifically with the guided fly fishing end of your trip we would really like to cover some important points that will help to ensure you get accurate pricing information and enjoy your time with us while fishing. For the experienced angler that is unfamiliar with the geographical layout of the trout fisheries as well as the intricacies of fly fishing the trout rich waters of Southern Alberta sourcing out a guide service that is dependable and professional is a wise choice. Stream Weaver Flies has been fly fishing and guiding anglers on Southern Alberta’s trout rich waters since 1984.

For inexperienced anglers who are unfamiliar with both fly fishing and the local trout fisheries we would strongly suggest taking a Fly Fishing School before spending hard earned cash on a guided trip. Fly Fishing is not an instant gratification outdoor activity even the most basic skills and understanding cannot be learned in a day or even over a summer of fishing for that matter. There is a learning curve that involves a sustained level of effort involving practicing both the mental and physical skills in order for the angler to experience any real consistent level of success. That is not to say you cannot take a guided trip before participating in a Fly Fishing School, we have had customers choose to forgo the school and go right to a guided trip who have had success and a fun day. The logical path to follow though would be to participate in a structured fly fishing school first. Our company has been providing very structured and entertaining schools for hundreds of satisfied customers since 1984. Welcome to Alberta Canada and our company we hope you will see fit too choose our company when you come to fish this area.

FLY FISHING SCHOOLS

Fly Fishing Schools provided by Stream Weaver Flies are usually held in the city of Red Deer which is centrally located between the cities of Calgary and Edmonton. For large corporate groups located outside the local area we can run a wide variety of programs in any designated area preferred by the company partaking in the school. It is much easier for us to go to the company when larger groups are involved with safety award programs; team building and when corporate functions are taking place. For smaller groups of one – three participants we hold these programs in a pre-designated location in Red Deer. It is much easier and a more cost effective format for a group of three individuals to travel to Red Deer than it is for a large group of individuals from a corporate enterprise. The small schools with one too three participants is a more personal approach for the individual customer too consider participating in. By limiting these schools to one too three participants you will receive a lot more personal instruction and experience a lot more success.

These schools involving one too three participants is also a very economical way of keeping costs down for the participant and at the same time having the advantage of having maximum time with the instructor. Over the years we have continually observed the progression level of the participants to be much quicker and participation to be much more enjoyable. These schools are a day long program that usually begin at about 9:00a.m and can go to roughly 4:00p.m. If participants show a keen interest we have been known to continue schools right up to the time the sun sets.

We are open to suggestions from corporate customers as well as any individual clientele needs we will do weekend retreats or even longer functions upon request. We also provide private lessons for any individual that wants to work on individual casting skills at an hourly rate.

Note: For more in depth information on our schools see the “Fly Fishing Schools” section of our website.
