Stream Weaver Flies is committed to providing international fly fishermen with unforgettable experiences on Alberta’s Bow River and beyond. Fly fishermen that have had the opportunity to become frequent customers with our company have come to expect very memorable experiences. We have received compliments from a number of customers suggesting we are one of the premiere fly fishing guide services in the Southern Alberta area. Stream Weaver Flies have been in the fly fishing service industry, functioning for the international fly fishing public for over 20 years.

We understand how valuable your time is and are committed to providing the best possible experience for the duration of time you share with us on Alberta’s Bow River, Red Deer River, Crowsnest River, Oldman River or Ram River system. We completely understand how difficult it is to part with valuable time and hard-earned funds, and therefore we are committed to dedicating our total focus, abilities, knowledge and enthusiastic work ethic to your trip and enjoyment. Remember – we are anglers as well, so we have a genuine foundation to draw upon when it comes to what an angler’s aspirations, expectations and needs are.

We think that the combination of picturesque Southern Alberta, our talented guide service and special rivers such as the Bow River, Red Deer River, Crowsnest River, Oldman River and Ram River system provides an opportunity to satisfy even the most consummate Fly fishermen. The Southern Alberta area proudly provides fly fishing experiences that surpass other destinations worldwide, and is on par with even some of the most remote, expensive international locations. We invite anglers everywhere to share in the wonderful fly fishing experiences this beautiful corner of the world has provided the traveling angler with since becoming world famous over the last 30 years.

This company has been in business since 1984 and Bob the owner/operator has been fly-fishing since the early seventies. The company is owned and operated by Bob Edens it is a small family run operation that prides itself on providing what we think is an overlooked niche in the fly-fishing industry that is of

unparalleled personal service. No sub-contracting to part time guides we personally do all the schools and trips ourselves, so you get the best personal care and attention. In the next year or two, we will be welcoming our brother Pat into the company. He will bring a wealth of experience and freshness to the flow of the day-to-day routines within the company.

Our fly shop and guide service is strategically located in the city of Red Deer in central Alberta. This places our shop half way between Calgary and Edmonton placing us within a short drive of many wonderful fisheries. South Central Alberta has some superb fisheries, spectacular scenery and clean comfortable accommodations. This proximity to both great lake and river fishing provides excellent opportunities for outstanding (match the hatch) type dry fly fishing for large trout. Some of the pictures in this website will let you see what kind of fishing is available.

We carry a wide variety of fly-fishing equipment, tackle, tying materials and flies in our shop or if we don’t carry it, we will order it in special order. Please find a list provided below that includes the entire product and service related opportunities we provide through our company.

Meet The Staff

Pat and Bob's background has been military first as dependants and then later as serviceman so they have fished from the East Coast of Canada to the West Coast and everywhere in between. For all five species of pacific salmon, Steelhead, Rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout in a wide variety of environs from rivers to lakes and even salt water estuaries.

Most of their early, life was spent on Northern Vancouver Island in Holberg fishing both salt and fresh water. Being tutored by an extremely avid angler and outdoorsman their father George Edens. Our father was the most energetic, positive, patient angler we have ever known. His patience, time and kindness resulted in Pat and Bob being schooled in the skills of angling by a consummate teacher. Pat and Bob’s participation in the art of angling was initiated by their dad when they were the eager ages of seven and eight on wild streams that turned out to be tremendous classrooms. We had the privilege of fishing countless wonderful fisheries with our dad over many wonderful years that provided immeasurable hours of absolute enjoyment and irreplaceable memories. We wish we could have our father on the team with us in the future but sadly, he passed away in his usual quiet, gentle manner on Nov/30/2003. Our dad will be very deeply missed by us and many other anglers who were blessed with the marvelous opportunity to share time on stream with the wonderful angler and person that he was.

The next part of Bob and Pat's schooling came on great rivers such as the Bow River, Big Horn River, Missouri River, Yellowstone River, Crowsnest River, the Elk River, the Kispiox river, Duck lake, Peterhope lake, the North Ram, Stauffer creek, Prairie Creek and the list goes on and on. Many years of observation, actual fishing, macro photographing and cataloguing the life cycles of aquatic insects and experimenting/developing special patterns that successfully produce during even the toughest situations have taught us a great deal. Through plenty of practice and fishing experience, we have improved our presentation and line control skills to a point where we can provide a quality experience to every level of angler. In both tough hatch and non-hatch situations in all varieties of weather especially those low light conditions that create tough situations and frustrate so many anglers.

Bob became an F.F.F. (Federation of Fly Fisherman) certified casting instructor in Sept. 1994 by a much-respected name in the fly-fishing industry "Doug Swisher" something that he is very grateful for the opportunity of having accomplished. On the same day he also ran through the yet to be released F.F.F. Master caster certification outline with "Doug Swisher" which took most of the afternoon to complete. Doug was very impressed with Bob's ability and felt he was very worthy of the Master Caster instructor certification recognition however; he could not certify Bob to this level. Based on two facts, the masters program we ran through was yet to be released and there was a requirement that two F.F.F. Board of governors members must be present to test and certify any participant.

Both Bob and Pat are very capable, energetic, positive motivators who love nothing more than being part of the process of helping fellow anglers enjoy a day of fishing. They also enjoy passing on their learned skills to other anglers through their various programs by encouraging the growth and development of participants abilities. So that program participants and clientele can go on to become complete, self-fulfilled anglers and fully enjoy all the pleasures fly-fishing has to offer.

Bob has been guiding, tying custom flies, and teaching fly-fishing for over 20 years. He currently operates his own fly shop out of his home in Red Deer Alberta Canada. He has been heavily involved in every aspect of this industry even designing fly fishing clothing and selling custom fly fishing vests that have sold very well.
